Nevada’s Public Lands Aren’t a Private Playground

While the Trump administration's plan to sell off public lands poses a direct threat to Nevada's invaluable natural resources, we are alarmed by Governor Lombardo's focus on political maneuvering rather than genuine protection of our environment. His vague housing plan is not just ineffective; it represents a potential gateway to corporate land grabs that could transform our wild spaces into private developments without proper environmental safeguards. This inaction on protecting public lands jeopardizes the future of our state.

Tell Governor Joe Lombardo:

We, the people of Nevada, call on you, Governor Joe Lombardo, to take a stand and reject any plans to sell off Nevada’s public lands unless comprehensive and ironclad protections are guaranteed. Without these safeguards, Nevada’s wildlife, open spaces, and public access will be at risk of disappearing. These precious lands belong to every Nevadan, not to developers or corporations. We demand that you keep Nevada Wild!

Federal Land Sale Proposals:

The Trump administration’s push to sell public lands is a significant giveaway to developers, risking the conversion of treasured spaces into private property and restricting public access essential for recreation and community enjoyment.

Governor’s Housing Initiative:

Lombardo’s $250 million housing plan may sound appealing, but in reality, it leaves our public lands exposed to sale without clear protections for the environment. This plan neglects to capitalize on the numerous underutilized and vacant properties in Nevada's urban centers, such as Las Vegas, Reno, and Carson City. By focusing on infill development and better utilizing already zoned land, we can meet housing demands without encroaching on our vital public lands and ecosystems.

Sustainable Growth for Nevada:

Nevada is experiencing growth, and the demand for housing is palpable. However, we must be mindful of long-term consequences. Decisions made today should not compromise our environment for short-term gains. Selling off public lands for immediate housing developments only creates a future crisis, where we will find ourselves in desperate need of natural spaces to protect water, wildlife, and the unique character of our state.

Our Demand:

We urge Governor Lombardo to commit to protecting Nevada's public lands and to prioritize the well-being of our environment over the interests of developers and corporations. We call on you to implement robust safeguards that ensure public access and conservation of our natural resources.
