Stop Congressman Amodei’s Public Land Giveaway

This petition calls out Congressman Mark Amodei for his ongoing efforts to sell off over half a million acres of Nevada’s public lands to private developers. Although his amendment was recently pulled from the GOP reconciliation bill, it was introduced without transparency or public input, and it won’t be the last attempt. Amodei’s proposal would have handed public lands in Washoe, Clark, Lyon, and Pershing counties to developers to fund tax cuts for the wealthy, prioritizing corporate interests over Nevada’s communities, environment, and tribal sovereignty.

This isn’t an isolated incident, it’s part of a larger pattern. Unless we hold him accountable, Amodei will continue trying to carve up our public lands for profit. We demand that he abandon this harmful agenda and commit to open, community-driven land policies that protect Nevada’s natural heritage for future generations.

Tell Congressman Mark Amodei

Congressman Mark Amodei may have pulled his amendment to sell off over half a million acres of Nevada’s public lands from the GOP reconciliation bill, but make no mistake, this is not the end of his efforts to hand over our shared lands to private developers.

Amodei’s attempt to quietly push through a massive land sell-off, crafted behind closed doors and without public input, was a betrayal of Nevada’s communities, environment, and our values. His proposal would have handed public lands across Washoe, Clark, Lyon, and Pershing counties to private developers to help fund tax cuts for the wealthy. These lands belong to the people, not to political insiders or corporate interests.

This isn’t just a one-off. Congressman Amodei has a long history of siding with those who want to carve up our public lands for profit, and unless we hold him accountable, he’ll keep trying.

This agenda:

  • Threatens public access to Nevada’s open spaces, recreation areas, and cultural lands.

  • Silences the voices of Nevadans, tribal leaders, and conservation advocates.

  • Sends proceeds out of state instead of investing in our schools, infrastructure, or environment.

Amodei’s claim that Nevada must sell off its lands to compete economically is not only false, it’s extremely dangerous. Real leadership means protecting our natural heritage, strengthening community input, and planning for sustainable development, not selling out our future for short-term political gain.

We call on Congressman Amodei to abandon this harmful approach for good and to commit to transparent, community-centered land policies that prioritize the needs and voices of Nevadans.

Nevada’s public lands are not for sale. And we’re watching.
